Jubilee Furniture weekly update for Friday, May 31, 2013

The end of each month is always an extra busy time with lots of donation calls due to folks moving.  This time of year also increases incoming calls since people are holding estate and garage sales and then donating whatever doesn’t sell.  Thursdays are normally a little crazy since it’s crunch time getting the store ready for today.  Additionally, yesterday Dan Snyder (Jubilee Furniture Warehouse Manager) hurt his back and I assisted with the last couple of donation pickups (no big deal, Mom – I’m fine).  Phew.

Have I set the stage properly?  Has your blood pressure risen a bit as you empathize with my plight?  Good – then maybe you won’t judge me too harshly with what happens next.

Obviously, after a day like I had – and since my husband was working and wouldn’t be home until late, and with a couple of extra people at my house – I suggested we go out for dinner, which we did.  Dinner over, I start hunting for my car keys (cue dramatic music).  Can’t find them.  Anywhere.  Uh ho.

Locking my keys in my car is something – truth be told – I’ve done before (though not for many years).  Locking my keys in my car WHILE IT’S STILL RUNNING is a first for me.  Thankfully, Abby had her keys with her and it was no big deal.

Disaster averted, we stop at Target on our way home.  I carefully turn off the car, remove the keys and put them safely in my purse.  I mosey around the store (one of my favorites) and, not surprisingly, find a number of things I want to buy.  I pay for my purchases and walk away from the register.  Jack’s fiancĂ©e, Ali, is behind me and also buys some stuff.  She finishes and walks up to me with a bag of cards which I’d left at the register.  What?!  This is not normal behavior for me.  Tired brain?  Foreshadowing of things to come? Gulp.

Another amazing store to browse through is…Jubilee Furniture, of course!  With 30,000 square feet of fabulous furniture it’s so worth making special plans to come in during our limited hours of operations (Fridays from 1 to 8 and Saturdays from 9 to 4).

The following photos will give you a preview of some of the furniture donated this week!

Amen?

Jubilee Furniture weekly update for May 24, 2013

Have you ever felt like you were in a season of life where you were operating at full throttle? All the time?  That’s how I’m feeling these days.

Don’t get me wrong – wonderful things are happening (two graduations and a wedding) – but I’m physically and mentally going 17 hours a day.  It’s at times like this that I’m reminded – again – that I’m not 25 years old anymore!

25 year olds are often at the perfect time in their lives to discover Jubilee Furniture.  Many are finding and furnishing a first apartment and so a 30,000 square foot warehouse chocked full of amazing, gently used furniture (and some household items) at reasonable prices is like finding a gold mine! A gold mine on North Ave. in Carol Stream, Illinois!  Woot to the woo!

Here are a FEW of the things you’ll find at Jubilee Furniture today from 1 to 8 and tomorrow from 9 to 4:

No matter what season of life you’re in, dear reader, I pray you’re valuing relationships, looking for opportunities to bless others, remembering to laugh often and not take yourself too seriously (can you tell that’s something I need to work on?).

Love!
